a rly good comic
Apr. 19th, 2012 | 09:53 pm
this comic book store by my house has sales on back issues (5 for $1) every year so i go and try to find the oldest or worst comics i can. they are all in plastic sleeves so i can't flip thru them so it's a fun surprise to bring them home and see which ones especially suck. i think this one is one of the best i've ever found

no good deed goes unpunished
Mar. 14th, 2012 | 12:53 am
i haven't posted to my livejournal in such a long time! hopefully i will more often. here is a post in words about words, with a theme specific to my genitals.
monday was my birthday and for the first time i was called a cunt, which i thought was pretty amusing. it was in an anonymous tumblr message and i answered it almost immediately because i was really excited:

somebody called me a cunt! ME! this is a word i had never been called before. also i'm pretty sure my response just proves just what a hilarious cunt i am.
and then something funny that happened tuesday that swings between ridiculous and ridonkulous - i received this email out of the blue, which i screencapped and posted to my twitter adding a simple comment of "creep." i did not email back.

these are the photos in question
four hours later i received a second email from them, which i replied to and also screencapped and posted to my twitter:

and then shortly after that i received a final email:

to the person who wrote this and anybody else who likes to do "good deeds" anonymously on the internet - you may have had good intentions but the execution of a good deed (especially anonymous) is also important. here are some pointers should you like to help others in the future, so please take a seat and take some notes:
1. you went through the trouble of making a fake email (secretadmirer___@___ no less) when you could have left a message in my tumblr ask box, anonymously. this is shady. don't be shady.
2. a simple "hey i think i can see your kooka" would have sufficed, in lieu of waxing poetic about the possibility people can see (that you admitted could have been your fertile imagination) my obscured, low resolution crotch.
3. "dat gap," while (presumably) complimentary and playful, pretty much negates the good deediness of the (already questionable) good deed. it might be because you'd already spent so many words on the subject or because your handle is secretadmirer___@___ but unsolicited anonymous comments about people's undergarments are generally unwelcome and strange and creepy.
4. the slim hypothetical margin of viewability of one's nethers beneath a fruit of the loom t-shirt in a 72dpi JPEG on tumblr is not really important.
5. i probably would have noticed if my shirt was see through.
and then should the person for whom you are doing the good deed calls you out in public for the ludicrous backwardsness of your good deed you should probably not call them a cunt, especially since your identity was never in jeopardy anyway. what do you have to lose? nothing!
but you were being funny right? you tried!
i explained on twitter that i was more bothered by the immediate turn around and your use of the word cunt. i tweeted facetiously about some email i received. i'm a cunt! way to be meeeeeeeean. i thought you caaaared about my cunt! anyway, for what it's worth i don't really care. it's all over now.
one more thing that touches on cuntery and words:

thank you for not thinking i'm a cunt, but also thank you for noticing the way i use grammar and assuming (i'm assuming you're assuming) that i do it on purpose. i had a professor in college who obsessively corrected all the grammar in my comics. i don't know if he was just anal about proper english or just thought i was lazy/had really terrible grammar but he went through the work i did in class and fixed every single thing that was "wrong." which was his job, i guess, and yes they were technically wrong. but i really felt it changed the entire tone of my work. or maybe i'm just too fond of speaking and typing like an idiot for stylistic effect. but anyway yeah i like how words look and move around a panel or page or book i guess.
words! who knew! going to make a cunt t-shirt.

i went to the brooklyn comics and graphics festival! i was just dicking around, i got there kinda late (like at 5:30 oops). anyways this is some stuff i got there:

top row is carrie mcninch, michael deforge, caroline paquita
bottom row is pat aulisio, shawn cheng, jose luis, and the tiny zines and pin i bought from ette
i haven't read some yet i'm trying to ~savor~ them slowly but michael deforge's kid mafia is great and looks great, and as always shawn cheng's is my favorite. whenever i am at at these zine things i buy a shawn cheng thing but i've never met him which is probably for the best because i'm a creep.
( more picsCollapse )
